UAE Corporate Tax — what you need to know
UAE Corporate Tax (CT) at 9% on taxable profits above AED 375,000 has applied to financial years starting on or after 1 June 2023. All UAE companies — Mainland and freezone — must register with the Federal Tax Authority (FTA) via the EmaraTax portal, regardless of whether they owe tax.
Qualifying Freezone Persons (QFZPs) may be eligible for a 0% rate on qualifying income, provided they meet substance requirements and do not conduct a 'Disqualifying Activity'. We will assess your eligibility and advise.
UAE VAT — 5% since 2018
Value Added Tax (VAT) at 5% was introduced in the UAE on 1 January 2018 and is administered by the Federal Tax Authority (FTA). Businesses with annual taxable supplies exceeding AED 375,000 must register. Businesses between AED 187,500 and AED 375,000 may register voluntarily.
VAT returns are typically filed quarterly (some businesses file monthly). Late filing attracts penalties from AED 1,000 for the first offence. We file on time and keep your records clean for FTA audit.

Common questions about UAE tax and accounting
Yes. All UAE entities (Mainland and freezone) must register with the FTA for Corporate Tax regardless of profit level. Failure to register attracts penalties. The actual tax payment only triggers if your taxable income exceeds AED 375,000.
The FTA imposes a penalty of AED 1,000 for the first late filing, and AED 2,000 for each subsequent late filing within 24 months. Additional penalties apply for underpayment of VAT due. We track your filing calendar and submit on time.
Yes. If a freezone company's taxable supplies (including exports and sales to UAE Mainland customers) exceed AED 375,000 annually, VAT registration and filing is mandatory. The freezone designation does not exempt you from VAT.
The Wage Protection System (WPS) is a UAE government electronic salary transfer system managed by MOHRE (Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation). It is mandatory for all businesses employing staff under UAE labour law. Non-compliance can result in license suspension. We manage the monthly WPS submission on your behalf.
Yes. We handle accounting for Mainland DET companies, all major freezone entities, and sole establishments. We work with most common accounting software and can onboard you to cloud-based solutions.
